How It All Began: The Story of Dimmy’s Farm

Well, isn’t business like growing a tree?

The roots of a tree are in the soil, yet it reaches toward the sky. It reminds us that to aim high, we must stay firmly grounded — and that no matter how tall we grow, it is from our roots that we draw our strength.

We didn’t start Dimmy’s Farm the way this kind of business usually starts

We had no inherited land we didn’t know what to do with, nor an orchard ready to go. All we had was a dream and 200 trees. That’s it. That’s how it all began, back in the not-so-distant year of 2021. But so what? There are so many people with vast orchards whom we regularly see on TV — facing the problem of being unable to sell their produce, or selling it for next to nothing. It’s a familiar story among fruit growers in Bulgaria.

But when your heart tells you to follow your dream, those things somehow lose their weight. We’re Dimitar and Preslava — the people behind Dimmy’s Farm. We didn’t give up, despite all the challenges. Even when things got tough and we sometimes wondered whether we’d make it, we always found a way to keep going.

The idea was born out of two main problems:

On the one hand, there were the low prices paid to growers for their fruit. On the other — the lack of quality fruit sauces and jams with 100% fruit content on our market. That’s when our Spicy & Hot Plum Sauce came to life — the first Bulgarian fruit sauces of their kind. Made with attention to detail, our sauces are not just products; they are an expression of our wish to offer something authentic and unique. Our jams, too, have 100% fruit content, no added sugar and whole fruit — something rarely found in Bulgaria.

The food we eat has a huge impact on our health. We believe in what is natural and pure, so with every batch we make, we put in a piece of ourselves and our philosophy of real, wholesome food.

Mistakes are inevitable

As with any new venture, when you start out without experience, mistakes are inevitable. We made them too, and we still do. But you know what? That doesn’t stop us. Every failure is a new lesson that helps us get better. When you believe so strongly in what you do, giving up is not an option. Yes, sometimes you take a step back, take stock, and then move forward with even more confidence. Nobody is born knowing everything, and that is exactly where the magic of our journey lies.

Today, less than a year after we launched our first product, we can’t help but feel proud. You, the people around us, notice it more than we do, because we are so deeply immersed in the process. But when we look back and see what we have achieved in eight months, the feeling is simply incredible. We have reached hundreds of thousands of people, we work with stores all over Bulgaria, many of which found us on their own, and we have built a community of people who don’t just like our products but feel part of the Dimmy’s Farm family. You are the reason all of this is happening, and we are grateful to you for the trust and support you give us every day!
